Thank you to all who presented at our October Zoom meeting.  Camp Scugog was voted as the winning charity this quarter.  They have started a Nature School program that for children in Scugog and outlying areas.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS

  1. Register as an individual member (or team of 2) by completing the Membership Commitment and return it to our office by email or mail. Full instructions can be found at the bottom of the registration form.

  2. As an individual member (or team) you must commit to donating $100 per meeting. There are 3 meetings per year lasting 1 hour in length.

  3. Each individual member (or team) will submit a Charity Nomination Form to nominate an organization of their choice for consideration. Forms must be received at least 1 month prior to the next scheduled meeting. This will allow the member or team time to prepare their presentation themselves or involve someone from the charity.

  4. Three charities/organizations will be randomly chosen prior to each meeting. The member or team or nominated that charity/organization will have an opportunity to make a 5-minute presentation about their chosen charity to the group. They may also involve someone from the nominated charity to speak on their behalf. There will also be a 5 min Q&A period after each presentation. Note: You do have the option not to nominate a charity if you so desire but you must fulfill your $100 commitment per meeting.

  5. After the three charities have been presented, each individual member (or team) will vote for one of the three chosen charities. Note: You are allowed 1 vote per individual member (or team).

  6. After all votes are tallied, each individual member (or team) will write a cheque totalling $100 to the organization receiving the most votes and the selected organization will receive the total donation!

Women in Scugog who care about local community causes and who are committed to community service. We gather for just one hour every four months where, at each meeting, we jointly select a local charity or not-for-profit organization and write a $100 cheque (per person or team) to the selected organization.

If you:

  • are committed to helping others in our community, but are stretched for time; want to be part of a powerful group of local women making an immediate, direct and positive effect on the lives of our neighbours;

  • want 100% of your donations to go directly to local charity;
